FAQs

Any questions that have not been answered in the below, please contact us using the tab above.

How long is the race?

The race is approx. 36.5 miles, starting at Cragganmore Distillery and finishing in Buckie's town centre.

Is it self supported?

Yes - due to COVID-19 the entirety of the race will be self supported. Please download the handbook for further details.

What will be provided at the aid stations?

This year, we will have water as a minimum, so we encourage you to bring your own fuel to supplement this.

What time does the race start?

Registration will be open at Buckie High School from 4am to 5am prior to the buses departing.

The 1st wave will start at 7am, with each wave following in 1 minute increments, based on the expected finishing time you emailed us with. There will be a virtual race briefing (details in the handbook) with a short briefing at 6.45am on the day with social distancing in place.

Are you doing a bag drop?

Clear plastic bags will be opened by our volunteers at the start line for you to put any materials not used in the race. They will be numbered according to your race number, so you can collect at the finish with ease.

Are there showers at the finish?

Not this year unfortunately. We recommend you to bring a change of clothes and baby wipes!

Is there an essential kit list?

Please refer to the handbook for up to date requirements for race day.

What happens if I want to pull out during the race?

There will be a marshal recce-ing the course, and a sweeper vehicle. However, we ask that you ensure a marshall is informed before you head home.

What will be at the finish line?

Due to COVID-19, this will be minimal this year. As much as we would love to party into the night, we can't this year. But know we will still be just as proud of you for crossing that line!

What are the prizes?

There will be overall prizes as well as category prizes. There is an additional prize for anyone who can break the course record!

What is the cut off?

9 hours.

Are there buses?

We have arranged buses to pick you up from Buckie, departing at 5am, to take you to the start line. If you did not opt for this when you signed up and would like to add this to your entry, please email us at SpeysideWayRace@gmail.com  as soon as possible. This is an additional £8 and means you can park at the finish line, avoiding the stress of the limited start line parking.

Are there buses for spectators?

Unfortunately not. However, because the race is in a rural setting, spectators can drive to many locations on route to cheer on their runners!

Can spectators give me fuel?

No outside help is allowed this year, unfortunately.

When do I receive the race manual?

It is available now! Please visit the homepage of the website to download the 2020 handbook.

Can you recommend any accommodation?

A list of some local hotels are available at a discount in the handbook.
